| With the development of information society, market information becomes more and more valuable to enterprises, and a lot of information-service websites spring out to meet this demand. The online Yellow Pages that we will study in this article are based on Netcom' s database of numerous clients. After acquiring, categorizing and collection of the raw materials, Netcom build up local online Yellow Pages. This meets the demand of clients, showing that Netcom' s strategy is transferring from tradional maketing to integrated services.Nowadays, information techonology is experiencing a transformation from the traditional C/S (Client/Server) to B/S (Browser/Server). MIS (Management Information System) based on C/S model is no longer suitable to today' s ever faster and wider data calculation and management. On the other hand, MIS based on B/S model becomes mature and has unique advantages in safety, consistency, real-time, service timeliness and internet unlimitedness.Online Yellow Pages based on B/S model enable the users to search and post information as they like. At present, Netcom' s 114 service and Yellow Pages both have disadvantages. 114 services face the problem of narrow inquiry range and single way of respondence, while Yellow Pages mean inconvenience both at inquiry and information update. However, online Yellow Pages can combine the above two methods, enjoying their advantages and evading the disadvantages. After all, online Yellow Pages make use of internet technology and have a bright future.This article analyzes problems of Yellow Pages and 114 services, then investigates the demand of users, and finally builds up function and information models of both inquiry and posting at online Yellow Pages. The article is composed of 5 chapters: Chapter 1 is introduction of the project; the next 3 chapters are about different modules of the website; and the last chapter gives forecast and suggestions about Netcom information services based on the trail at online Yellow Pages. |
