The development of computer technology,especially the development of computer network technology,helps us to realize the modernization and informationization of higher education examination management.In order to improve the level of higher education examination management and lay foundation for the informationized campus,we have developed a web-based management platform for the examination of higher education.Currently,the system is mainly developed for various examinations held by provincial-level institutions of higher learning.There are about 10 types provincial higher education examinations,including multidisciplinary-type examination which involves all the candidates, multidisciplinary examination in which each candidate may choose only one subject and single-subject examination.The process includes registration,verification,layout examination rooms,printing examination admission forms,organizing examination, inputting scores,statistical analysis,results announced,etc.,all of which are cooperated and co-finished by the candidates,faculties,schools,examiners schools, and other organizations or individuals under unified management and organization. Current management methods can not meet the needs of higher education reform and development.It's urgent to adopt advanced informationized management means to improve the level of higher education examinations management and efficiency.Targeted for the actual demand of the higher education examinations management system,we have adopted J2EE-based multi-storey B/S/S structure to develop and construct a unified,open,secure technical platform.Its advanced mature J2EE technology framework provides a unified technology framework to the development of a number of application systems and foundation for the future integration of new applications.Using the reusable components-class technology,it supports Unix,Windows and other mainstream operating system and Oracle,DB2, and other mainstream database system.The centralized data storage,data center aim to provide technology and data support for the informationization of higher education management.It can construct,preserve,update,integrate,distribute,and share data;it can also provide foundation environment for record,disaster recovery,backup,and other information services to achieve the centralized data storage and applications. The use of dynamic component management technology,advanced O / R Mapping mechanism and MVC model ensures the system with a high degree of ease of use, good scalability and powerful portability.The independent client or browser simplifies the end-user installation.The system is not the simple realization of the traditional database management, but an achievement of a comprehensive test management system.This system includes the system operational phase,the examination preparation phase,the examination registration stage,data verification stage,preliminary examination,the examination stage,results receiving,filing."System operational phase" is in operation in the whole process.The system separates tests by its type;the candidates' information,data information for each type of examination is logically isolated to achieve a safer and more effective data management.The system is more stable and effective by the sharing of information and information network.More importantly, the system is to lay foundation for the future reunification of the informationized institutions examination,so whey designing,we have taken into consideration the system's utility,and universality,in hope of its wide-spread use in all institutions.
