To improve the efficiency of the impregnation product line, which is made up of 25 cases, we studied and found the impregnation automation system. This paper is divided into six parts: introduction, holistic design, manual/semiautomatic control design, automation design, hardware design, and software design.The control modes for impregnation product line are almost manual control and semiautomatic control mode nowadays. These modes use PLC and apparatus to control product line, not only cost is expensive, but also the operation complicated. This paper uses the correlative theory of intelligent control, improves the current modes, proposes the automation control mode.The second part introduces the generic concept of system project holistic design, the architecture of intelligent control. Use this theory to design the control system architecture which have three hierarchical levels, explain the principle and content of organization level, harmony level, execution level.The third part introduces the principle of PLC and how to choose; according to the requirement of temperature and ph value of liquor, choose the corresponding AD card; the end of this part, the communication of PLC and PC will be expatiation.The forth part introduces the manual control mode and semiautomatic mode. Emphasize the status of crane so that we can real watch the product line, and proposes the flow of manual and semiautomatic mode.The fifth part introduces the automation mode for product line: 1) analyze the signals for communication between PLC and PC; 2) analyze all the status of crane, workpiece and product line; 3) design the action of crane return; 4) design the protect equipment for product line; 5) give the flow of automation control mode.The sixth part introduces the software design: 1) based on OOA and OOP, choose VB as program language; 2) introduce the rules of software design; 3) accomplish the storage of database and print; 4) give the software UI and operation flow.This system has run well some months for the 25 cases impregnation product line, simple operation, convenient fixing. It can be very valuable for the same or correlative product line control.
