China's comic book publishing is operated a gloomy business under the threat of piracy. Compared with foreign countries, such as Japan and the United States have formed a huge cartoon market because of the mature development from comic to animation and game and then to derivative products. That seams we have a gold mine but only starve to death.Such a situation was caused by many reasons. On the one hand, there are some problems refer to the characters design, story, and some other problems of China's cartoon, and then the development of derivative markets of comic books was limited. On the other hand, these publishers are lack of the perspective of industrialization, so the most economic value chain in the industry: Book derivatives were not paid full attention to.The discussion to the development of comic derivatives under this background is significant. Through the systematic and in-depth study of the concept and connotation of comic and its derivatives, combining theory, practice and case, a useful exploration and innovation will be processed to develop industrialization of comic derivatives. The thesis is looked forward to providing rationalization proposals for the development of book resources and culture industry of enterprises that will meet the development of the times and the people's spiritual civilization demand.The thesis is composed of five main parts as follows:The first part is the foreword, mainly contains the development evolution and the current achievement of the comic derivatives. The current research of the comic derivatives was summarized, and the object, the method and goal are also established in the part.The second part bases on the integration of comic derivatives' research, the connotation of book derivatives is defined innovatively, and the significance for the publishing industry is expounded. The characteristics and common forms of comic derivatives are summarized then. At last, the principle of the derivatives' development is analyzed: the audience and the position via the classification of comic's audiences.The third part mainly discusses Chinese cartoon industry chain and the tow more important problems of the chain: the subsidiary rights, authorization and franchise.The fourth part focuses on the strategies of the problems in the industry chain, including the differentiation strategy, copyright agent and brand management.The fifth part looks forward the prospects of our comic derivatives' industrialization via comprehensive analysis for the previous chapters.
