As a new media, Internet challenged the government managers. How to run Internet management effectively was a hotspot in every country's government. Especially in China, because of short Internet history, the government was still looking for the right way of running. Comparatively speaking, because America was the place where Internet born and grew, American government already had a relative mature management system. It's important to research the experience of American Internet management to see how to make good use of it in China. This article mainly used qualitative research method, including case research, comparison analysis, literature research etc. Through the hunting and analysis of mass home and aboard data, it compared American government's Internet management mode and instrumentality with Chinese. Standing in two country's situations, Chinese Internet management learned some from American experience. There are four parts in this article: first, Chinese government's Internet management brief introduction; second, American government's Internet management analysis; third, the comparison of Chinese and American Internet management; fourth, the use for reference and thinking.Comparing American Internet management mode (government guiding the industry self-regulation) with Chinese (government domination) and analyzing through five aspects (legislation management, technology stakeout, self-regulation guide, market regulating and international cooperation), this article gave the similar and different aspects between America and China and suggested the use for reference to Chinese future Internet management.
