The embedded system as a new field of computer applications, with its simple, efficient, and other advantages are increasingly of concern. And to develop an embedded application system requires embedded hardware, embedded operation system and the corresponding development tools. The embedded operation system is the base part of embedded system, opposing very important position, and would be ported to support a new hardware platform.Nucleus is a typical embedded system that has many virtues such as light-weight, strong performance, easy to make, etc. Through the analysis of Nucleus system structure, with the target board based on Blackfin DSP, the research of porting embedded operation system includes building cross-development environment, porting Nucleus kernel and developing drivers of related peripherals. In the procedure of porting embedded Nucleus, the system boot loader is realized, that initializes hardware resource in boot time and loads system from storage device flash to SDRAM. The Nucleus system initialization includes low-level initialization, high-level initialization and application initialization, it make the enter environment of operation system. Interrupt configuration grant Nucleus system responding and disposing the interrupt of Blackfin DSP. The task schedule and timer management interface is responsible for managing the execution of tasks and all timer facilities. The standard procedure supplied by Nucleus system is used to research and develop the driver of related peripherals, such as universal serial asynchronous port, network chip and video coding chip. Operation system controls periphery devices through these drivers, that providing a rapid application development environment.
