Universal serial bus is gradually becoming one of the mainstream interface in the modern data exchange. designed and realized data acquisition system based on USB by the needs of wire ropes non-destructive testing in subject study.In the hardware design, according to the requirement of the wire ropes's magnetic, we implemented multi-port data acquisition function, using AD7829. In the part of USB interface, we set Up Stream Port and Down Stream Port, slecting ISP1362.it made the data acquisition card act as either USB HOST or USB DEVICE according to user's need. In the software design, we programmed USB firmware and USB driver. USB firmware is design was the most important part. At first, we introduced the design idea and software layer structure, then we introduced design process of each layer and supported some source code and program flow chart. The firmware adopted framework structure, so it no only had a clear structure, and it was easy to debug and maintain. When it ran in the system ,it could also schedule the submission module which had a high efficiency. In the USB driver design, it introduced the characteristic of the DriverStudio and the design process of the USB driver.Non-destructive testing system based on USB interface can effectively collect the defect signal of injured wire rope. It send the signal to PC or portable computer for later analyses and further process with PC, It can connect computer memery without PC. The result of test shows that it had some advantage of low power consumption ,high accuracy ,portability etc, which brought much convenience for non-destructive testing of wire rope.
