As a new generation measure instrument, Virtual Instrument has been popularly researched and applied in the fields of military and civil. In virtual of its well reliability and high precision character, GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) instrument has been first choice of virtual instrument in the field of military equipment auto measuring.Preamplifier test system is the application of the Virtual Instrument based on GPIB bus, it is used to measure all the performance parameters of the multi-preamplifier. This system integrates the industrial control computer and four electronic instruments, such as arbitrary waveform generator, digital oscillograph, digital multimeter, and power supply. The industrial control computer commands the other equipments by the GPIB interface, chooses the channel of the tested chip by the digital I/O card, control them to achieve the test to the multi-preamplifier automatically. It is proved that the test system rebuild by VI is better than the original system.A set of GPIB bus test platforms based on the Virtual Instrument was researched in this article. Concept, sort, characteristic and current development of Virtual Instrumentation, GPIB bus system were briefly introduced. Then carried on the design methods of the testing equipment, introduced the hardware platform and the instrument control modules in great details. The paper gives the project research conclusion finally.
