Virtual instrument technology is a combination of computer theory and test theory. Its presence was a convolution in test apparatus developing history. With the development of virtual instrument technology, Automatic Test System has also been rapid developed. The spectrum analyzer is a very important instrument in measuring the signals in frequency domain. Because of the complex operation and lots of the measuring items, traditional methods of measurement and calibration of spectrum analyzer are time-consuming and effort-consuming. This project based on spectrum test apparatus, making use of virtual instrument technology, established Automatic Test System, calibrated the spectrum analyzer automatically.This paper introduced virtual instrument technology firstly, based on which developed automatic test system for spectrum analyzer calibration. Then it introduced agriculture and main purpose of the automatic test system. In third chapter, the apparatus of the automatic test system is introduced. And in forth chapter, it presents the development of the test software for this system. This paper also deeply discussed some problem, such as the synchronization in automatic test system and location of the calibrating point, find the cause of the problem and put forward the solution of the problem.Finally, the paper summarizes and evaluates the result of the project, introduces the result of the application of this project, and also introduces the contents of further researches and improvement conceives.
