The general PI control method is widely applied in the field of industrial process. The method is simple, adaptable and it can meet with the demands of the general industrial control process. But it has some problem in control characteristics, such as the parameter of PI is the best in one status but not good in another status and the control characteristics are not perfect to the object which is nonlinear. In this paper the fuzzy-PI control method is introduced to the system of electrical propulsion to improve the dynamic and steady characteristics.This paper studies the AC/AC variable frequency converter speed-regulated system of synchronous motor and the nonlinear object—propeller. Establish the mathematic models on the base of piece-wise linearization of propeller.That provides the foundation for the simulation and improving the quality. In this paper the fuzzy-PI control strategy is proposed, and the rules of the fuzzy-PI controller are established. Basing on this the mathematic models of propulsion system is established. Some comparisons are made about the propeller's characteristics of start-up, crash reversal, anti-interference and the sensitivity to the PI parameter through a series of simulation. The simulation results show that the fuzzy-PI controller is much more advanced than the traditional PI controller.DSP has been employed to help realize fuzzy PI controllers of speed regulating system and at the same time, software programming and testing have been conducted. All this is of great importance to further study the application of fuzzy PI controllers in other fields.
