As the rapid progress of industrial automation and abroad application of various control devices and process monitoring devices make it impossible for the traditional industrial software to meet the characteristic demands of all kinds of consumers. The traditional industrial control software has obvious shortcomings, such as week flexibility, comparatively long development period, inconvenience to maintain, etc. In order to overcome those disadvantages, configuration software for monitoring come into being and gains many emphases. The hardware interface based on OPC Specification, one of the key technologies of configuration software for monitoring, is studied and developed in this paper, and the related achievement as follows.First, based on the systematic reading of the relative literatures and study of the relative technologies, the background, current condition, the future, the purpose and significance of this research is firstly reviewed, then the theories and technologies of the relative hardware interface are summarized.Secondly, the general structure of hardware interface for configuration software is designed in modules, the functions and realizing method of different module are described in detail, and also the program of OPC server and the program of device drive are developed. Furthermore, in this paper, the chapter of OPC server analyzes the design idea and its realization of the main class of OPC Specification, introduces the function of interface, the key of realization and the flow chart in the main OPC interfaces; the chapter of device drive classifies the sort of the programs of device drive, analyzes the protocol, the key of development and the realization of its main functions with the developed instance.Thirdly, a practical monitoring system for industry that is developed on our configuration software platform is presented, and the process of its work is introduced.In the end, all work of the thesis is summarized, and the problems that need to be solved in the future are also pointed out.
