Computer supported collaborative design is an important tendency in the development of CAD technology. In collaborative design, the designers use their own design tools for product development, use network platform to exchange information real-timely, to keep the product information rational and consistent during the process of design and accelerate the product development. In all four collaborative design forms, the implementation of synchronous and multiaddress collaborative design is most difficult. Collaborative design with three-dimensional solid models is more difficult realized than collaborative design with some others such as text files.Adopting virtual reality modeling language (VRML) and JAVA technology, the transmitting and collaborative browsing in network of three-dimensional solid models were realized in this thesis. By means of JAVA APPLET technology, whiteboard tool was plugged into the website, collaborative designers can use the whiteboard to launch internet conference, discuss design program real-timely, browse and label two-dimensional graphics and technical files collaboratively and interactively. With Jsp technology and network database, a collaborative design platform was built for information sharing and management during collaborative design. The synchronous-multiaddress collaborative design has achieved on such a network platform preliminarily.
