Although the infusion became as a commonly used medical method, its limitation show out step by step. Firstly, it is possible to causes the patient discomfort even to endanger the life if the infusion speed is improper. Secondly, the infusion process is so long that it is easy to cause the nurse or the patient neglects, which can increase the medical hidden danger. Thirdly, it is necessary to monitor the infusion process, which increased nurse's working intensity and consumed the energy of person who accompanies the sick. It is urgent to reduce the hidden danger in the infusion process and the enhancement working efficiency. At present some infusion surveillance apparatus take effect in application, but with the network and wireless technology rapidly development, it need to invent the more effective digitization device at this moment.The Distributed Infusion Control/Monitoring System consists of a PC and some monitors, all of which make up a distributed infusion monitor network. The PC and the monitors communicate with the wireless, and the software for PC carries on the real-time monitor to each infusion process, simultaneously; it can manage the basic document and the infusion record of the patient. When the infusion speed is not correct, both the PC and the monitor will alarm with sound and light at the same time. The Distributed Infusion Control/Monitoring System enhanced the infusion security and effective through software and the hardware two aspects.In order to upgrade the existing PC to have wireless capability, a new device class called Wireless Adapter is defined. A Wireless Adapter connects to the PC and allows the monitors to be connected to the PC with wireless. The Wireless Adapter needs 5V power that originates from the PS/2 connector of the PC. It connects to PC through the RS-232 connector. The Wireless Adapter use the MSP430F169 which is a ultra low power, high capability microcontroller and the nRF401 transceiver which is a true single chip UHF transceiver designed to operate in the 433MHz ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) frequency band. In the Wireless Adapter, we as far as possible use the electronic device with low price and high capability, high reliability, high integration rate, wide adaptation temperature range, and strong ant-jamming ability. We had fully considered its resistance to jamming and the reliability when designed the printing circuit board and the firmware.Such as the spatial noise and the transmission route and so on, many kinds of factors influence the Distributed Infusion Control/Monitoring System that some kinds of transmission protocol which ensure the reliable data connection on this unreliable physical link is needed.The infusion monitoring software system can monitor each infusion process conveniently. It is designed to preserve the infusion records. The software system can be operated easily and looks friendly. This software system can manage the patient's basic information, the infusion records, the data security and the medicine information and so on. It also provides the inquiry and printing functions. It is more conveniently and automatically in infusion management.The research of the Distributed Infusion Control/Monitoring System solved the shortcoming of difficult to fix the cables and limitation in data management. It has laid the solid foundation for the digitization and the modernization of the infusion process monitoring.
