In the clinical medical work, intravenous infusion has been listed as an essential means oftreatment. It has great significance. In the process of intravenous infusion, the progress of infusionshould be monitored in real-time according to patients’ condition and the entered drug. At present,most of hospitals and medical institutions still rely on manual adjustment of pulley to adjust infusionspeed or visually observing the liquid level. They do not realize automatic monitoring management.These practices mean the existence of potential danger for patient. If the infusion speed is too fast, itcan cause drug toxicity, more seriously the phenomenon such as edema and heart failure may alsooccur. If the infusion rate is too slow, dosage inadequacy or unnecessary extension the infusion timemay appear. In case the liquid level of drug is too low and medical staffs fail to treatment timely,blood return and other dangerous symptoms which can bring pains and medical accidents will happen.For this purpose, a hospital infusion monitoring system is studied and designed. The system tookMSP430F149MCU as the core of lower computer and communicated with PC by RS485bus. Theupper computer used Visual C++as its interfacial software for establishing a visual man-machineinterface. Using this technology, the information about setting speed, actual speed and remainingliquid volume can be monitored easily. Infusion speed detection, keyboard, LCD, stepper motorcontrol and other modules were designed by the lower computer. In order to be able to composite,analyze and handle with the experimental data quickly and accurately and finally achieve intelligentreal-time control, the system put forward a fuzzy control method which applied to the infusion controlprocess for controlling step motor to reach the adjustment of dripping. Fuzzy control has goodconvergence and advantage on fuzzy computing; it can be easily to build language control rules toexpress knowledge which can be effectively integrated intelligent control the infusion process.The hospital infusion monitoring system can remotely monitor patients’ infusion situation andadjust the infusion speed according to patients’ needs. If abnormal situations occur in the process ofinfusion, the system can give an alarm automatically. Up to now, this system has solved a lot ofinfusion problems effectively and staff’s workload has been reduced. So it receives increasingattention with an inestimable development prospect.
