Turbo-generator set is an important equipment for electric power producing, it has a high rate of fault and causes a lot of harm because of the structural complexity and the special circumstance. The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis plays a important role in assuring the turbo-generator set for its safe, stable and efficient work. However, with the development of power system towards high voltage, large capacity and multi-machine interconnection, it makes the technology of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis for machine set not only more important, but also more specialized and hard to master, which restricts the popularization and development of this technology.The rapid development of computer, network communication and other related technologies makes the remote monitoring and diagnosis become possible. This paper develops a remote condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for turbo-generator set based on B/S model. It combines the traditional monitoring and diagnosis system with network communication, database and Java, JSP technologies, which greatly changes the structure of monitoring and diagnosis. Man has no longer been restricted by time and distance. Wherever he is, as long as he is on Internet, he can obtain the running condition of the machine set and the diagnosis result from expert or remote expert system to whom the fault data or picture is transferred. It greatly improves the efficiency of monitoring and diagnosis and reduces the cost, and the successful use of this system will make an important theoretical significance and a huge economic return.This paper first presents the background of the subject, describes the development and application of the technology of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, and discusses the significance of the remote monitoring and diagnosis. The theoretical knowledge of vibration monitoring and diagnosis, including the basic parameters of condition monitoring, the analysis and proceeding of vibration data and familiarly vibrating fault are discussed. Then it entirely illustrates the general structure, function module, software platform and develop tool of the remote condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for turbo-generator set based on B/S model. On the discussion of the technologies of implementing the system, including socket network communication technology, JDBC database access technology, Applet drawing technology, multi-thread technology and JavaBean technology etc, it emphasizes on the design and realization of the main function module of the system--realtime monitoring module, condition analysis module and fault diagnosis module. Finally, on the basis of the summarization of the research work in this paper, further research and investigation are discussed.
