The technology of state monitoring and fault diagnosis of equipment has made great progress in and out of our country recently, which plays an important role in serving the equipments for their stable, long-term and safe running. However, with the advancement of modern science and technology, the equipments tend to be larger, faster as well as more roboticized and complicated which makes on the one hand the technology of state monitoring and fault diagnosis more important, on the other hand the technology becomes more specialized and harder to master. This also restricts the development of this technology.The development of computer and network technology has it practical for the remote monitoring and fault diagnosis based on Internet, which contributes much to this traditional technology. Man has no longer to be restricted to distance. Wherever he is, the operating states of the machines are available as long as he is on the Internet. The fault data is delivered to experts or remote expert system by network then the results can be send back, so man's running about is replaced by the transferring of data through the network. By this way, the latest theory and technology can be used more easily.The dissertation makes some discusses on the different modes of remote monitoring and diagnosis, analyses their advantages as well as disadvantages. The mode of Browser/Server is chosen and its key technologies are introduced. The software platform which includes operating system, server software and database server is discussed. Win2000 Server+SQL Server+IIS 5.0 is chosen as the operating platform, C++ Builder 5.0 and Dreamweaver MX, the developing tools.This dissertation analyses the structure, data management and realization of remote monitoring, introduces mechanism and diagnosis of fault. After discussing the scheme of remote diagnosis based on Internet this dissertation constructs Remote Monitoring and Diagnosis System (RMDS).Remote Monitoring and Diagnosis System (RMDS) has been put into practical use and brought about great benefit.
