With the fast growing informatization of education, Computer network assisted learning (E-learning) has been changing traditional teaching and learning mode in amazing speed. Traditional learning mode is characterized by a teacher-centered activity with classroom as its site, textbook its scope, teacher's lecture its media, blackboard, chalks, lecture notes, slide show, video etc. its tools. Its process is as follows: students preview, teacher gives lecture, students do exercise, teacher checks, students take tests, teacher assesses. E-learning is students-centered, and can be conducted in any place, with subject content as its content. With E-learning, a student can choose subjects and teachers freely, decide on his/her schedule and way of learning, and select the time, direction and difficulty levels of tests according to his/her own level. In this sense, compared to traditional learning mode, E-learning is more conducive to give play to students'learning initiative, and it makes learning activities more individual-oriented. Moreover, it can be conducted along with traditional learning mode, so as to make the best use of their advantages.E-learning in China is an industry with a huge potential market. Based on the study of online training system abroad, and considering the advantage of J2EE framework, this thesis has presented the new online training management system based on J2EE and a number of new technologies.Chapter one provides a brief analysis and interpretation of online training system, elaborates the purpose of the study in both realistic and theoretic terms, summarizes the existing study in this area, and task of this thesis. Chapter two summarizes relevant theories and technologies, including J2EE framework (e.g. concept, advantages and mode) and DRM.Chapter Three and Four are the major part of the thesis. In Chapter Three, an analysis of the system demand is conducted, and based on the analysis, a widely-accepted framework for developing, testing and deploying in this area has been identified in the spirit of minimizing development cost and best satisfying customer demand. Then a detailed function module (including administrator and user modules), database and UI design is conducted. In Chapter Four is the discussion on some focal point in technology, such as Struts framework, J2EE mode, Ajax and the application of other technologies including Hibernate and XML.Chapter Five introduces the outcome of the deployment and test of the system. Chapter Six summarizes the study and practical application of online training management system based on J2EE, emphasizes its features and shortcomings, and proposes some ideas of improvement.
