The MIMU navigation system has become one of the most popular navigation system for its outstanding merits and prospective applications. In this paper, Field Programmable Gate Array is used to design an information collection system for MIMU navigation system. DSP is also used to help FPGA in dealing with float data, and on the other hand, FPGA works as an interface and controls the communication between DSP and other devices. So the information collecting and processing board designed collects and processes data at the same time. As a result, the system performance is improved, the price and design cycle are both reduced while volume and power loss are cut down.Firstly the principle and composing of integrated navigation systems are described. And secondly, functions and hardware design scheme of the information collecting system are introduced. Finally, the Kalman filtering algorithm is studied. For the hardware design, a DSP+FPGA structure is proposed in this paper to use the advantages of the two kinds of devices. Specifically, DSP processes data collected by FPGA. Besides, FPGA is also responsible for the in-out control of the system. Therefore, software design for FPGA is discussed in chapter 4. The software is designed in VHDL, under ISE7.1 development environment. Some Modelsim simulation is finished to prove the design results. And the simulation results show that the transfer speed and timings are satisfying.The research proves that the system designed with FPGA has a reasonable structure and task distribution. The software and hardware parts cooperate well. The system is characterized with high speed, high precision, small cubage and low power loss. It is obviously better than traditional design and can promote the navigation system performance improvement.
