Multi-user detection (MUD) is one of the key technologies in 3G mobile communication system, and has been a hot spot in telecom research field. We can use multi-user detection technology to eliminate Multi-access Interference influence and increase system capability essentially. Nowadays, most multi-user detection algorithms hold flaws such as complicated computation, unsatisfied convergence speed and so on, thus, MUD has not been put into action for long time. We will introduce a multi-user detection based on constant module algorithm in this paper implemented through FPGA , because of its low complicacy and convenience of implementation. The major works of this paper are summarized as follow:1. The hardware implementation of MUD algorithms is summarized in this paper; the principle of the multi-user detection based on constant module algorithm and its expansion algorithms are discussed. The features, development flow of the FPGA device are summarized simply at the end as well as the FPGA device and MAX+PLUS II IDE of the FLEX series.2. This paper uses the top-down design method to divide the system into five modules, namely filter module, coefficients update module, coefficients memory module, decision module and control module, and the implementation plans of the five modules are introduced in detail. At the end, the multi-user detection based on constant module algorithm is completed in FPGA through the realization of top document.3. The multi-user detection based on constant module algorithm by designs with VHDL is compiled successfully through the compiler of the MUX+PLUS II IDE, and the occupied resource information of design in the report document from compiler is analyzed successfully. It is proved that the system can implement the multi-user detection based on constant module algorithm through the simulation in Matlab and the sequential simulation of hardware system.
