Design And Implementation Of Network Link Traffic Monitoring System Based On SNMP

The rise of the Internet has rapidly changed the world. In the new economic era, the network has become an important infrastructure. It has been widely used in telecommunications, defense, finance, education, transportation and other fields of social life. Behind network flourish, many management issues have appeared. In order to ensure network safely and efficiently operating, people pay more and more attention to network management research.This thesis designs the link traffic monitoring system based on SNMP. Firstly, the system gets the network topology information via topology discovery, and then uses reasonable topology layout algorithm to achieve topology visualization; Secondly, it achieves the link traffic monitoring based on the topology visualization.This system has two main modules:topology visualization subsystem and traffic monitoring subsystem. In the design of topology visualization subsystem, this thesis analyzes the difficulties and shortcomings of network layer topology discovery algorithm and link layer topology discovery algorithm. And then this thesis gives the corresponding topology discovery algorithm. It uses a ray-type layout algorithm based on hierarchical to do topology and layout. In traffic monitoring subsystem, this thesis uses a single point of SNMP-based traffic monitoring method. Finally, this thesis gives a prototype design of the system and validates traffic monitoring module and layout algorithm.
