Work values is the attitude and opinion to his own job's of all aspects. Job satisfaction is the feeling of the role in the organization or the emotion reaction. This paper takes the software engineers as research object to discover the main components of work values of software engineer. This paper also intends to study the work values's differences in terms of several demographic varies and the relationship between work values and job satisfaction. The purpose of this research is to advance the research of work values and offer somc uscful advice for the department of software enterprises.The software engineer's work values scale this study used is based on the well known scale developed by Wu tiexiong, Elizur and Ling wenquan. And then modified it by interviewing, factor analysis, reliability test and validity. After such a modifying process, a work values scale composed four dimensions is formed. The job satisfaction scale developed by Spector is adopted by this paper. In order to improve the fitness to the specific object, reliability test is taken.The research date is collected from some software enterprises in Dalian. 287 questionaires are handed out, and 280 valid samples are collected. According to the data collected and series of analysis, the study got a modified work values scale composed four dimensions. At the some conclusions are listed as follows:The software engineer pay the most attention to scale of organizational security and self-growth, then prestige and dignity, occupational pride, they pay the least attention to the entertainment.The differences of software's work values in terms of gender, age, marital condition and political factor are significant, but not significant in education experiences.Also the study shows the four dimensions of work values are high related with job satisfaction. In order to clear the influence between these two varies, regression analysis is conducted. It is concluded that which dimension of work values influence the job satisfaction.
