In the process of the modern management of the hospital, as the main carrierof the medical information, the patient records are not only the first-hand data ofthe medical treatment and scientific research but also the basis for evaluating themedical quality, technology and managerial level. The building of CPR(Computer-Based Patient Records) is the core of a new generation of hospitalinformation system centered around patients, one of whose fundamental goals isto form CPR. XML(eXtensible Markup Language) currently is one of the hottechnologies, which is useful to describe half-structured data such as the patientrecords. XML-based CPR combined with Internet makes it possible to sharemedical data with hospitals.This thesis has conducted the analysis research on CPR, and emphaticallydiscussing CPR data storage and conversion. The half structured characteristic ofCPR as well as the various heterogeneous hospital information system enablesXML to be the most suitable exchanging data for data processing in CPR.Furthermore, the nature advantage of XML and the developing of XML alsocause XML widely to be applied possibly. In order to realize data sharing withdifferent kinds of information system in hospital, and use the powerfulmanagement functions of database, we have well to realize the conversionbetween the XML documents and the database. First, CPR based on XML inhospital need to be converted into data stored in database. Second, the conversionincludes the interchange between XML documents and database. Further more,CPR based on XML from different medical institutions should be understood andrecognized by each other. CPR has functions of remote medical consultation,which makes it necessary to share data among various medical institutions.Based on the research of CPR structure, a model of CPR data storage based on XML is designed. This thesis designed and achieved conversion algorithmsbetween XML documents and database. For heterogeneous XML document fromdifferent medical institutions, a corresponding data conversion algorithm isdesigned and achieved too.
