In recent years, with the increasingly sophisticated conmputer technology and the rapid development of Internet information industry, the database technology has been widely used. But because of the influnce of differences in DBMS, the choice of data processing systems, and personal habits of database designers, or the other factors, makes the hetergeneos data massive growth and forming a complex heterogeneous database environemt. Therefore, how to convert the heterogeneous data has becomed a urgent problem to be solved.Since the XML technology emerged, it has played an important role in the field of data conversion with the features, such as platform independency, easy extendibility, good interacitivity and strong semantics. The paper is on the base of studying XML technologies, the exisiting data conversion methods, and also combines with the anylysis of charateristics of heterogeneous data, introduces a heterogeneous data conversion model for relational database. This model uses two kinds of XML documents:Data XML and SD XML to describe the data value and structural information of the source data table and destination data table.Then this thesis designs the translation rule document (TR_XML) for configuring the mapping rules between source table and destination table, this method can solve the structure conflict and semantic conflic well.This paper is base on the heterogeneous data conversion model, designs a heterogeous data system. Then by using of the J2EE, JDOM, JDBC technologies, completes the main function of the system. This paper also has done the simulation test by using the upgrading of the warehouse information system as background, to verify the function and correctness.
