The Application Of ETL Technology In Data Migration And The Conversion Of Specific Data

The research subject was chosen from the project of a data bank system developed by a company in Japan.Data bank is a data base system, which stores all about companies' information from beginning to now. The information always treated as merchantable products. This project has been chosen by a mount of companies, which helped by the project to give decision making and analyzing.Diversification happens on the format of the data source. For every kind of format, it can impact on the development of informatization. To provide the total data sharing, the data migration becomes a necessity. Data migration can implement the consolidation on whether logic or physical between different data sources, different data formats, or other different data attributes.During this research, the data migration application based on the ETL method has been involved. Because of the particularity and diversification of the data pool concerned in this project, some data unable migrate directly. And this research has worked out the problem of the conversion of character code and changeable file,and also solved the problem of the division of object data. By means of various kinds of migration and manipulation, this research has achieved a data system based on the UNIX environment and got data migration successful.
