Under circumstances of modern electronic warfare and information war the passive location system, using electromagnetic information emitted by the target, has great application value owing to its advantages in stealthy characteristics and distant detection. And it is now the hotspot in the field of non-linear tracking and estimation. This paper is focused on such problems as how to raise the measuring accuracy of the parameters required by the passive location system and to which degree the parameter measuring accuracy affects on location accuracy. In chapter 2 of the dissertation describes a theoretical algorithm for direction finding of arrival signals with the phase interferometer. A more detailed study on direction finding tolerance, ambiguity-resolving range and direction finding accuracy of the phase interferometer is introduced. The chapter presents also a design procedure of the baseline ratio based on the ambiguity-resolving algorithm, as a lengthier baseline is added to improve estimation accuracy of the direction of arrival. In chapter 3 are shown the basic principles for moving single observer to make passive location of fixed targets using the phase difference rate of change. The system observability is discussed here, with affects of measure and system parameters on single location accuracy analyzed theoretically. A filtering algorithm for multi-location results is also analyzed theoretically in the chapter. The following chapter conducts theoretical and simulation analysis for data collection of phase difference and phase difference rate of change. Affects of measure and system parameters on location accuracy are further analyzed through simulation in chapter 5, which confirms the effectiveness of direction finding, correction of phase difference rate of change and location filtering algorithm as given in this paper.
