The Lost Of Specialization Study On The Orientation And Function Of Chinese Financial Newspaper

Specialization is the vital basis of financial newspaper. What is specializationand how to embody it? Could specialization be simply expressed to be that using amass of technical terms and full sections to interpret the difference between financialand comprehensive newspapers? Why is it so difficult for us to read a financial paper?To discuss this issue, we select three most influential and representative financialnewspapers in China: Chinese Management, 21^st Century Economics Report, andEconomics Observing. As the samples, we scrutinize the content, average length,illustrations, links and headlines of the reports from these newspapers, and analyze themeaning and orientation of the specialization of the financial newspaper.To the financial&economics mass media, specialization is not just a requirementin the sense of formality and orientation. What is more important is their performanceof the duty of transmitting the financial news, leading the investment decisions andsupervising the corporation. However, through the research we find that thespecialization of the financial newspaper has been crippled by its abuse of the dataand the story-telling reports. Besides, when the big financial events come out, wecan't hear the objective, accurate and fair-minded voice from them. Studying theperformance of the financial newspapers in 2006 when the general rise occurred in thestock market, problems can be found: the inconsistency between the macro report andthe micro report; lack of reflection after the comparison between the domestic andforeign stock markets, and lack of veracity because of the external interview andcareless integration of the second-hand information in the report.We start with expression of the meaning of specialization, analyze all-sidedlythe problems in the Chinese financial newspapers through aspects of the orientationand the function of the newspapers, and question the orientation and function ofChinese financial newspapers——they stand too high to be popular, but their practicalfunction is still not satisfying, they have by no means reached the standard of "specialization" yet.
