Along with the development of IPv4-based global Internet, IPv4 network has emerged two serious problems: one is "address exhaustion", and the other is "backbone routing-table exploding". These two problems are becoming more and more serious and they are caused by IPv4 protocol itself. So the only and the best way to solve these problems is to design a new internet protocol. The next generation Internet protocol ,also known as IPv6, had been designed after many years of consideration.IPv6 has been standardized by IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), with a basic set of standards finalized in 1998.It is considered to the core protocol of the Next Generation Internet (NGI) and now ready for use. The 3GPP(3G Partnership Project) has specified IPv6 as a mandatory IP protocol in Release 2000 IMCN (IP Multimedia Core Network) subsystems. IPv6 have many advantages over IPv4, such as huge address space, perfect mobility support, Embedded encryption support and authentication, etc. This thesis focus on Related Problems of the next generation Internet based on IPv6 Protocol, including IPv6 technology, network performance and network transition technology .A test solution is presented in the time latency of production network during the CNC CNGI engineering .The thesis comes to it's end with the conclusion of the future development of next generation Internet.
