Automatically Switched Optical Networks (ASON) is key technology of constructing Next Generation Optical Network. As one of cellar control technologies, routing technology has been the hotspot in optical network researches.Routing in optical network includes intra-domain routing and inter-domain routing, and my researches focus on ASON inter-domain routing. At the present time, there's no industry standard for ASON inter-domain routing implementation. OIF introduced a hierarchical link state routing protocol named Domain-to-Domain Routing Protocol (DDRP), which meets the requirements of the routing protocol architecture in G.7715. DDRP is not a whole new routing protocol, but based on OSPF-TE and IS-IS-TE.The inter-domain routing in the optical networks is now being researched, and there is no commercial standard available at present. Although it is one of the essential requirements in the future, some providers do not wish to appose all the routing information to their opponents considering security problems. How to implement the inter-operation between optical networks is coming to be an important issue. In this paper, first, the hierarchical link state routing requirements, concepts and mechanisms are researched. Then an OSPF-TE based intra-provider inter-domain routing protocol is developed. And the protocol is simulated on the OPNET platform to prove its feasibility. In the end, the problems in the inter-operation between GMPLS networks and IP/MPLS networks in the peer-to peer model are analyzed, and the solutions are developed.
