Along with the technique of micro-electronic and communication, intelligent measure and control instrument has been developed. The new design of instrument has been obtained by broad use of the single-chip microcomputer and CMOS chips. The intelligent instrument has been the main tool in the field of modern measure and control.The resistance furnace has been widely used as the heater in industry and the exact precision of temperature control is demanded. The net built by instruments can supervise the heat process and settle the data-base. Therefore, it is very valuable to design the temperature control system have steady operation, exact precision and communication with a host computer.In the thesis, the temperature control system that the object is resistance furnace, controlled by intelligent instrument, measured by temperature sensors, carried out by relay and RS-485 serial communicated has been designed. According to the design of system, the design of hardware and software has been discussed completely.According to the design target and the economical principle to choose suitable CMOS chips, the design of hardware circuit uses I/O of single-chip microcomputer well. The design of software is combined with hardware and has completed the data calculation and display, keyboard operation, serial communication and so on.It is studied the resistance furnace, set up a mathematical model, constructed a model-reference self-adaptive control arithmetic by using Popov criterion theory. The simulating results show the advantage of this arithmetic.By the experimental verification, this system operates well. It has high accuracy to measure and control object and been used economically.
