At present the measure means of reading water meter is depended on drivers to copy the data by interring the consumers, not only the man-power and material resources are wasted, inevitably make errors by mistake, but also brings inconvenience to daily life of consumers. Along with the development of city modernization, it is necessary to construct intelligent region, the primary means of meter reading was not equal to the present work, and the new reading means develops, and along with the development of communication and computer technology, it makes remote reading possible. Resent years our country was popularizing out-door measure technology, make true that copy power conveniently, not disturbed consumers, a great deal of man copying work gradually transitions to numeric transmission. There are kinds of long-distance copying systems, but there are many disadvantages in practice application process. The water meter instrument remote reading system designed by the subject was started to develop at the background of demand of some new built region.This dissertation first introduced the application background, problem significance of water remote reading systems, summarized the development situation home and abroad, bringed forward the main work, entire project and key technology which needed to be finished by the subject.This system used of the MCU which is low cost and high performance as the principal part to design hardware, used asynchronous serial communication technology based on RS-485 electric interface as communication means. The process of sending data frames was analyzed and communication protocol was made. At the same time, the article used SQL Server technology and Visual C++ program language to design the remote reading management software system.In addition, the dissertation analyzed kinds of uncertainty and disturbance factor, taked series of effective measures to advance the reliability and anti-disturbance capability of the system in design process. Through the running and testing, the Auto Meter Reading System was proved to be having a good ability, such as easy on installation and debug, reliability on running, convenience on operating, veracity on data-collecting and so on. It achieved the scheduled goal, met the actual requirement, and has a wide application in the projects.
