Bibliography was at its silver age in 1930s, when evolving from traditional studies to modern studies. Learning from western theories and methodologies, China's scholars wrote and edited many literatures to explore the method of Bibliography, its theory and history. Yao Mingda, a preeminent one among them, also devoted himself to Chinese Anti-Japanese and National Salvation Movement. At the moment of the national crisis, he led his students to serve the frontline while actively propagandizing for resisting Japanese aggression. He died in the battle at only 37 years old, and was the only professor who died in the frontline during Chinese Anti-Japan War. His unfortunate death was a great loss to China's catalogue and history studies, while becoming a Brilliant Flag for Chinese intellectuals. I, among one of those earliest students who study Bibliography, hereby focus my study on Yao's life, his thinking and contribution. The methodologies in my study include on-the-spot Investigations and reviewing bibliographies. The content consists of three parts: a summary of Yao's life and his thought, his contribution to Bibliography, and his study on history science. The first part of this thesis, Yao's life, will be briefed on the basis of 1980s'study. There are studies on Yao's thought, but no study on the sources of his thought, which will be stressed here. Yao had played an important role in Women Liberation Movement. He and his wife, Huang Xinmian, started Women Monthly, a stir at that time, but neglected. I detail this event as one chapter. Yao was short-lived, but he offered valuable thinking to Bibliography and on history science. Many of his original ideas on Bibliography studies are still praised and treasured. Influenced by his teacher, Liang Qichao, Yao edited many chronologies and proffered samples for today's chronological edit. This is another focus of this thesis.I have spent more than one year collecting data and edited Yao's chronology. The chronology can only be included in the thesis partly unfortunately because of the limit space of this thesis. The important events in his life are attached to the thesis. I hope this will give some assist to someone else who also studies Yao.
