Grid computing is regarded as the third revolution of information science after the internet and web technique. In the grid, the whole internet, including all the resources in it, such as the resources of computing, storage, communication, software, data, knowledge, and so on, is combined together. As a kind of new distributed computing model, Web Service emerged vigorously recently, by which the seamless cooperation can realized in the different platforms and the different application programs coded by different languages or the different application components. Web Service can encapsulate the application as a single entity, and can provide it to other programs in the web.Grid computing and Web Service have attracted much attention worldwide. In 2004, WS-Resource Framework (WSRF) was proposed as a new grid's standard of grid by IBM, Globus, and HP. WSRF is based on the definition and technology of existing Web Service, and it helped to realize the unique of grid computing and Web Service. How to provide a stable Web Service in dynamic and instable network environments is crucial.This thesis combines mobile agent with grid computing. The mobility of mobile agent is used to save the network bandwidth and reduce the whole system network communication in Web Service, especially in the cases of invoking Web Service composition. The paper proposes to employ mobile agent technology in grid computing. The advantages of applying mobile agent in grid computing are highlighted A mobile agent based WSRF (MAWSRF) is developed. A prototype was implemented under GT4 (Globus Toolskit 4.0). A series experiments were conducted. The experimental results show that the proposed framework is feasible and effective. Most services of GT4 are implemented based on the WSRF. Therefore, it can not only improve the dependability and efficiency of WSRF, but also provide a viable idea and method to GT4.
