Design And Application Of Standard Impact Factor And Standard Cumulative Impact Factor

Objective: Impact factor has showed some limitation when it is used inthe assessment of sci-tech journals and scientific research work. Thisstudy aimed to establish a method to avoid this limitation.Methods: First, this study drew into cumulative impact factor toovercome the time limitation that impact factor just reflected the recentinfluence of sci-tech journals. Second, this study proposed standard valuesystem to minimize the unfairness and inaccuracy of using joumal impactfactors in evaluating and comparing the quality of joumals, researchersand research institutions in different subject fields. Then the standardcumulative impact factor and standard impact factor were combined toreflect the academic level in an all-round way.Results: The combining index synthesized the recent effects andmid-term effects of the journals, reflecting the level of the journals in anall round view.Conclusion: This index could be directly used in the comparison of thejournals in different field.
