With the development of the computer technology and computer network, the digital products and the relevant digital technologies have gradually been very common digital merchants in the world. However, the opening character of computer network and easily copying of the digital products bring forward a serious challenge to copyright protection of digital products. Being an effective information security technology, information hiding technology is standing out of others security technologies. Digital watermarking as a new technology of copyright protection is a kind of leading technologies in information hiding and it gains a large international interests. Digital watermarking embeds hidden messages into the host information such as text, image, video and audio to protect their copyrights. The hidden messages may be the copyright information or secret messages. At the same time these messages have a very little influence on host media. In addition, the digital watermarking must be robust for defending on all kinds of the attacks including intentional attacks and the non-malevolent data manipulations.A new dual digital watermarking algorithm based on self-restoring technology is proposed in the dissertation. The scheme retains the advantages of high transparent, strong robustness, multi-function and large payload size in the traditional algorithm of dual watermarking. At the meantime, it adopts the self-restoring technology to make them in advance and introduces virtual watermark in the scheme which is a new watermark form for making up for the demerit of traditional dual watermarking. The low transparence is a demerit of traditional dual watermarking and the scheme is incapable to deal with it. However, the cooperation of the virtual watermark and self-restoring technology make the problem vulnerable. Hence, the proposed algorithm in the paper obtains a great balance between transparence and robustness and meanwhile it can be used as a general watermarking algorithm. As a result, the experiments prove our ideas in the algorithm.
