Electroslag furnace is a kind of extensive applied smelting-equipment in the province of Special metallurgy, Electroslag Remelting ingot (Following brief name ESR of the Electroslag Remelting) with its high purity, its dense structure and fine machinery performances had extensive applied to the variously special situation, the control accuracy of the smelting current is one of the key factors that decides the product of ESR ingot during the process of ESR.The process control of the current has the high non-linear characteristics in the process of ESR because of subjecting to the process of craft, the machinery characteristic, the factor of environment etc. It is hard to accurate expression using the mathematical model, and the output of current mast to be control following the motion track of the desire to carry on the request. It must to be adopted that the techniques of modern intelligence control in order to effectively improvement the accuracy of current control during the process of ESR. The theories of fuzzy control developed a new path in order to solve the complicated nonlinear and misunderstanding the system, It has already got the successful application in many realms. Therefore, It analyzes the electroslag furnace,which possesses a typical non-linear object,the features of inertia,pure lag,time-variable parameter,etc. Combined on the characteristics of fuzzy and PID control,it adopts a self-tuning fuzzy PID control system to control the current of the process of ESR.This paper introduced a kind of method for intelligent control of the process of Electroslag Remelting is introduced. The condition of unsteadiness of melting current is improved and solved by Control of PLC program and Technique of Frequency conversion and the theories of fuzzy control and algorithm of PID applied for Intelligent Control of ESR during the process of ESR. The smelting results show that self-tuning fuzzy PID controller has better performance than the general PID controller or fuzzy controller in such aspects as robustness,adaptability,dynamic response and stability,etc. The new method effectively realizes Intelligent Control of the process of Electroslag Remelting.
