Relay plays an important role in various fields of national economy, especially in important military affairs. So people in science and industrial field are paying more attention to the reliability of relay. For a relay, whether it can open or close well and truly is an important guide line to its reliability. The contacts act right or not can be decided by analyzing the contact voltage drop of relay, which is an key test item in most relay reliability examination equipments. With the development of science and technology, various examination methods take place. In this article, a method based on virtual instrument technology is introduced.In this article, virtual instrument technology is studied theoretically, which involves its characteristics, exploitation tools, hardware and software forms and its design thought. Among the means of forming measurement system by virtual instrument, plug-in card data acquisition system based on PC is very convenience and popular. It not only has a good quality as well as expensive instrument, it also can fulfill various measurements. Therefore this kind of data acquisition system based on virtual instrument fits our country in measurement smoothly. In this article this mean is selected. The measurement system manages the relay with plug-in card of ISA bus based on PC data acquisition hardware environment. It is based on LabVIEW, which is developed by National Instruments Corp. The system takes full advantage of operation, storage and display function of computer, and is excellent for short cycle of development and friendly interface and simple operation.
