In traditional telecommunication network , user number has some route information . Especially for the user number of fixed network , it is including the information of ISP , network , exchange , ext. The user number is assigned by the unique exchange which it is belonged to . Undrer this mode , when the use wants to be served by the others service supplier or in different network or in different exchange , the user number should be changed . But , going with the high speed development of the society , the request of number portability becomes strong . So , Universal Number Function is brought forward . This function will solved the problem that the user number can not be portable because of the restriction from switch .With UNF function , a pair of numbers will be assigned to one user . One is called User's logical number (DN) , it only takes the function of user indication . The other is called User's physical number (LRN) , it includes route information . So , the physical number can be managed under the original mode with segment information , the logical number can travel in different region or different network . As the result of UNF application , the resource of user number can be made the most of. Also , the procession of network optimization becomes simply and quickly .To develop UNF function in FETEX-150 Digital Switching System is based in the project of LS Office + TS Office access as agent to SHLR . SHLR is added as service node in the local network , and the node is connected with the LS office by ISUP signaling . All the original call will be forwarded to SHLR and be rerouted after authenticating to the called user .In the design of this function , there are three methods to route to SHLR : (1) originated user has registered UNF service ; (2) UNF indication is set in the route translator ; (3) UNF indication is set in the office data -TGCLS . Whichever mode being set , the call should be routed to SHLR . In addition , in the design , the coding method of user's logical number is not changed , only the information of the number will not indicate it's local office ; the user's physical number is using the method of prefix+internal code .For FETEX-150 switch , the main software processing is focused in Switch Service Processing (SSP) module and Maintanence&Operation Processing (MOP) module . In the software , the following processing should be considered : the conversion between calling number and called number (conversion bi-direction between DN and LRN) ; signaling between LS/TS and SHLR (main in ACM and REL message of ISUP) ; storage of DN and LRN ; special processing of ISDN user and MFC signaling ; system data and defined field ; services interaction ; AMA billing and Meter billing ; abnormal case ; maintanece&operation commands .After input the patches of UNF function into FETEX-150 switch in living office , the collected data can be used to analysis what is affected to switch by UNF application . The analysis focuses in four aspects : switch , maintenance , call and services . The result is as following : although UNF function requests the system processing power and resource to be increased a little , also operator need to be trained for maintenance , but there is no effect to delay or supplementary services .Now , in the living office , UNF function is used to increase user number of fixed network from 7 digits to 8 digits . Contrasting to the old mode to input patches , With UNF function , the engineering becomes quick and easy . All in all , UNF function opens a door : to user , there is no inconvenience of changing telephone number while they make a move , the number can be used both in f(?)xed network and in mobile network , they can change the ISP without changing number ; on the other hand , ISP can manager the resource of user number to pull up the user's faithfulness and make much more income , also the network optimizing engineering becomes more and more easier .In the development of UNF function in FETEX-150 switch , I worked as a leader to manage software requirement, make basic design , drive the development schedule , collect and analyze the data from living office .
