The rapid development of mobile communication has brought a lot of convenience to our lives, with an expanding market of mobile users. SMS (Mobile Short Message Service) came to alive and grows rapidly, becoming another effective way of communication. This paper introduces the development of the mobile value-added service, indicates the broad market of SMS. Then analyses the mobile application platform structure, introduces the four sub-systems: Platform subsystem, Web subsystem, Access subsystem and SAG subsystem. Do some detailed introduce to the Gateway part which I have participated in. The gateway is divided into three parts: informations, queues and threads. There are five kinds of protocols in this system: the CMPP protocol of China Mobile, China Unicom's SGIP protocol, China Telecom's SMGP protocol, China Netcom's CNGP protocol and the protocol of WCSMP platform for internal usage; Queues are the solution to do communication in gateway, as the gateway has used the asynchronous transmission mechanism, the queues has became a necessary buffer of information; Threads, the communication threads with the operator and the monitor threads in the operating system. Finally, introduce the development tools used in the project. Struts, Hibernate, Tomcat and their working principle.
