A real-time dynamic simulation system is developed on the base of 80 thousand tons of styrene per year of a chemical plant belong to HuaBei Petro-Chemical Corporation.The development of the system consist of two sections, the first one is to establish process models, which are set up by selecting old modules and establishing new unit modules. These models form an information flow graph. The other one is to develop the simulation DCS system. The work including configuration of point, configuration of interface of system and configuration of communication is aimed to form a whole simulation system.In this paper, the unit models in common use are simply introduced. Also, some complex models like distillation and reaction are expatiated. In the distillation column model, Fractionating tower can be divided into many sections, according to the dynamic state character of transmission of gas state and liquid state. Every section would be abstracted as a fictitious theory standing. The gas state and liquid state of every standing can reach state equilibrium. Distillation tower model is established by establishing model of equilibrium flash vaporization. The reactor model is based on mathematical model of kinetics. The reaction is dealt with having a side reaction, and ignoring other side reactions whose outgrowths are identified by normal data. This simple method not only can assure accuracy of reactor arithmetic, but also reduce the difficulty of arithmetic.The simulation system's running shows that the simulation process is well accorded with the industrial process. Rigorous models and effective calculation methods are used to guarantee the real-time in speed and reality in exterior properties. This simulation software is well applied to the operator training, the process reforming and diagnosing, and the study of the process control.
