In the traditional dynamic simulation of cloth, the cloth is usually expressed in 3D mesh model. Although it can simulate the deformation of the cloth truly, it does not reflect the appearance of fiber level, because the real fabric has a variety of organizational structures based on fiber. In this paper, it proposes a method based on particle to simulate the fiber which is used to generate a yarn. Then it simulates the 3D cloth by using the yarn model based on warp and weft structure. It realizes the effect of geometrical texture to reflect the appearance of fiber level. Finally, it combines the yarn structure and mass-spring model to simulate the deformation of cloth. Specific research work can be summarized as follows:(1) We use the particle as elementary point and extract particles from a bounding box to simulate the fiber. Then we render the 3D model of particles to simulate the true fiber effect. We extract particles from the fibrous model to construct single yarn and simulate the dynamic twisting process of yarn based on the dynamic equation of the twist of yarn.(2) We can get the yarn model from the result of twisting process and simulate the 3D cloth by using the yarn model based on warp and weft structure. We extract the organizational particles of yarn structure as the masses of a mass-spring model, and build the mechanical model to get the deformation of cloth.(3) In order to achieve the dynamic simulation of garment based on yarn structure, we firstly represent the mesh model of garment as the yarn structure. And then we uses MCASG graph theory and K-means cluster algorithm to do the segmentation for a given 3D human body model and get elementary units. According to different shapes of these elementary units, we choose the closest and most efficient hybrid bounding box to specify these units. Finally, we do the collision detection and response between the garment and human models to achieve the dynamic simulation of garment.In this paper, we use the yarn structure based on particles to construct the fabric. It is easy to be controlled in the simulation of fabric’s appearance and reflects the detail of fiber level to achieve the effect of geometrical texture. Then we extract the organizational particles to establish the mass-spring model and realize the dynamic simulation of the fabric. The experimental results are fast and the effect is vivid.
