With the development of the communication service and the enlargement of the mobile communication network scale, base station spreads to many locations, and the base station's operation condition affects the service quality directly. The supervision of power supply and environment in base station plays an important role in mobile communications. Operators can have a clear idea about the operational states of base station through collecting and processing the parameters of power and environment in time, and can take measures to guarantee the base station operate safely.Making the utmost use of internet technology and 2.5 generation mobile communication network, GPRS based monitoring unit of base station's power and environment is developed in this thesis. Digital signal processor (DSP) is used as the core of the system and industrial grade GPRS module-MC35i made by Siemens Company is adopted to receive and transmit data wirelessly. The system developed in this thesis can monitor the power supply and environment accurately and timely.As a new kind of data transmission technology, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is developed from the current GSM digital mobile communication system. With the combination of radio technology and IP technology, GPRS constructs a mobile IP networks. Characteristics, network configuration and principle of the GPRS and the knowledge of TCP/IP are introduced firstly. Then, GPRS based power and environment monitoring unit of mobile communication base station is designed. System structure and function is introduced, and hardware and software are designed in detail. Hardware is composed of power supply module, GPRS module, serial communication module and man-machine interface module etc, and schematic circuit is given. Software includes interrupt service program, communication program, interface and basic driver program, some flow charts are given. In the end, anti-interference measures in hardware and software taken in this thesis is introduced.The monitoring unit developed in this thesis is the integration of internet, GPRS and embedded DSP technology. It has the features of high measuring accuracy, high reliability and well real time performance, so it has a broad application prospect.
