Research On SIP Protocol Testing And Testing Tools

As plentiful SIP-based servers and terminals appear, performance evaluation towards these products becomes an emergent problem at present. Under this background, researching on SIP protocol testing and testing tools is necessary.The thesis discusses SIP performance testing method and its criterion, puts forward testing schemes based on basic call flows and analyzes the problem of SIP signaling and NAT traverse of media streams. Based on analysis, the thesis introduces a SIP system performance testing tool that supports media streams, and it can objectively evaluate performance of the whole SIP application system.The SIP Performance testing tool simulates multiple SIP user agents that call the tested SIP server simultaneously and reflects the performance of the tested system by making statistic of the status of processed calls. It can also reflect different aspects of tested system's performance by adjusting input parameters during testing.Object-oriented design makes every module of the SIP performance testing tool have clear functionality and a fine architecture. The performance of the testing tool itself is also carefully considered during the designing. During the coding phase, some new techniques and standards are used to maintain advanced.In the last section, the SIP performance testing tool is used to test SIP servers. The results are proved to be valid and realistic by enumerating many testing processes and analyzing abundant testing data. The future direction of SIP testing tools is also pointed out at the end of the thesis.
