Web-based Application System Performance Testing And Tools Development

With the rapid development of computer network technology, World Wide Web which is of extensive, interactive and ease of use, is popular all over the globe and well-known to all walks of life. Web applications have been expanding, which make the system software become more and more complex, and how to ensure the accuracy and reliability of web applications attracts more and more people's attention. Performance has become the most important factors deciding to whether the web system success or not, so the performance testing has become the most important tests of the web testing.In this paper, on the basis of depth study of web application performance testing, self-developed the web performance testing tools-webtest, the tool can automatically generate test scripts, simulate the real load testing, analysis the test results, and point out that the bottlenecks of the system.First of all, this article introduces basic methods of the traditional software testing and the Web testing, compares the difference between them, then give an in-depth study of the performance testing among of the client, server and network, and finally points out the test strategies, the meaning and the calculation methods of the test indicators in different environments. On this basis, it details the principles and methods of the all of the webtest modules, and describes the key technologies in development. Finally webtest is used for testing an on-line bookstore, analysis the test results, pointing out the bottlenecks of system, and then giving the system optimize strategy. Experiment shows that compared with other testing tools, webtest the advantage of quickly test scripts generation, flexible test case amendment and the results accurate analysis, its functions in full compliance with the general needs of users.
