Researches On The Government Systems For The Social Sexual Concept Propagated By The Mass Media

The mass media takes important roles in propagating advanced thoughts, educating people, promoting reform, development and stabilization. In the recent years, the mass media and the mass media staff make hard works in propagating feminism, propagating women and female work. It makes an important contribution to development of women. But Influenced by traditional culture and commercialism, the mass media, as the carrier of the social consciousness, certainly propagate the content of sexual discrimination obsecuely or frankly. The design of women has been finalized to be the traditional role. And it commercialized or materialized the women. Once the content of sexual discrimination is propagated by the mass media, it strengthens our sense of women's role and sexual divisions of labor. Neither is it of advantage to woman's liberation and development, nor to the development of men and the society. Thus, it is of great significance to the women's and even the social development to find the expression of sexual discrimination of the mass media and analyze the causes of it, and improve the sensibility of the broad masses of people to the sexual discrimination by the mass media, and then make the government take effective measures to eliminate the phenomena.This thesis first selects three representative media, the family weekend version of the newspaper JINWAN, HALF THE SKY of CCTV and Subject For Women in the website of XINLANG, to research the sexual relationships and women's image and its negative influence to the public propagated or represented by the mass media. Then the thesis further discusses and summarizes the positive and negative influence of social sexual concept represented by the mass media. It analyses the reason why the mass media distorts and dissmilats the image of woman. At last, it puts forward suggestions of the government systems to improve the social sexual concept propagated by the mass media. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, meaning, the research situation and the content of the titles selected.The second chapter introduces the theoretical knowledge of the mass media and the social gender. First the thesis proposes the concept of the mass media and the public, then it further points out that the social sex is not a priori, but endowed with the social culture. Besides, this chapter introduces the concept and the theoretical basis of the government systems in the mass media.The third chapter analyses woman's image projected by the mass media. The author finds out the text involving"female","woman"and"gender"in three representative media---the family weekend version of the newspaper JINWAN, HALF THE SKY of CCTV and Subject For Women in the website of XINLANG. Qualitative and quantitative researches was combined with to analyze the function of three media---the traditional print, modern electronic media and the network---to project the image of woman. And the chapter analyses the view of propaganda, the conciousness of gender, the sexual relationships and woman's image propagated or represented by the mass media.The fourth chapter expatiates upon the good and bad effect caused by social sexual concept presented by the mass media. And it analyses the reason of bad effect. It points out there are several reasons that cause the distortion and dissimilation of the woman's image by the mass media. It is men's superiority to women, the patriarchal social system, a global commercial culture and the relevant unsound laws, regulations and policies that lead up to the influence.The fifth chapter raises the suggestion of the government systems in improving the social sexual concept propagated by the mass media. Only we put forward that making healthy and harmonious sexual culture, making perfect systems of the policies and laws, establishing effective supervision system to the media and establishing monitor network with sexual consciousness to the media, can the stark impression presented by the media be changed.
