Software reuse is the important domain of software engineering. It is the mainapproach to solve the software crisis and enhance software productivity, quality,opening and adaptability. As present, the research about software reuse focuses onthe software reuse based on components, it is consider as one of the key factors torealize successful.Manufacturing Execution System (MES)is the bridge that links the uppermanagement layer and lower control layer in an enterprise, which is an essentialpart of the information system. There are many problems in the process oftraditional MES software development such as hard developing difficulty, longdeveloping period, high cost, low reliability, bad re-structuring and integrationability. The article captures the requirements, extracts the components and makesthe analysis and design. Besides, the article presents the analysis process throughMES equipment management system.The key problems concerning components development based on UMLinclude the requirement analysis of components (extraction of components),analysis, design and realizing of components. These problems are researched andpresented combining with MES equipment management system in article. Themain research contents as follows:1. Software reuse, software components technology and extraction ofcomponents are analyzed.2. The method about extraction of components based on UML is presentedspecifically. The process, describing the function of system and extractingcomponents are presented specifically through use cases.3. Three analysis classes are extracted through describing the use case flow inevery component.4. The method of business components analysis and design is presentedspecifically by taking the equipment information management module as theexample and combining with S95 module. A couple of components class diagrams are established through use case analysis. Then, component modules, specificationand interface of business components are designed based on class diagrams.Moreover, dynamic models are presented with sequence diagrams, and a businessmodule is realized.
