Object-oriented development is a mature method of developing software, and being widely used in constructing distributed enterprise system. It's needed to achieve reuse amplely while constructing large buted enterprise system. Under the circumstances, a method of component-based development (CBD), which is founded up object-oriented development, comes into being. The method devote its attention to develop a component system, and then assemble software whith the components. The method of component-based development has a good future and expansive space of use. This paper discusses the idea of software reuse and the method of component-based development, and some correlative theory, including the Unified Modeling Language (UML), the Rational Unified Process (RUP), and the model of software architecture pattern.At last this paper introduce the development of a power plant equipment-repairing management system.During the development , models of system are made with UML ,and a component system is designed and used to assemble the equipment-repairing management system.The system is constructed upon the architecture pattern. All the work conforms to RUP.
