In each stage of airport construction (survey,plan,design,implementation,completion ), the massive correlation data material needs to be managed scientifically and effectively. But these data and the material have extremely close relation with the spatial position, if we cannot combine the data attribute and the spatial information in together, inevitably it will result in irrationality of the airport planning and design.At present, airport planning and design in our country is still in a relatively traditional phase, and technique is also still behind. It is unable to satisfy the needs of the modern airport construction in management, analysis, development of various massive data (especially spatial data).During the periods of airport construction and after the completion, Airport Construction Engineering Geographic Information System (EGIS) is an important project which is persistent application. It is the application of Geographic Information System in the airport construction,operation and management. The writer developed Xiaoshao Airport Construction EGIS based on the requirement analysis of Kunming Xiaoshao international airport construction. Taking the "3S" technology as a core, assisting by virtual reality technology, network technology and so on, the development of Xiaoshao Airport Construction EGIS transformed usual airport constructive method, so that we could manage the massive engineering content and technical data scientifically and effectively, and carry on data storing,data retrieval,applicative development and utility of engineering technology. We tried hard to make a breakthrough in the prime cost and cycle of the airport construction, and meanwhile provided a good technical platform for the macroscopic policy-maker.
