| Mass Media not only reflects the objective reality but also constructs it. The paper studied Nanfengchuang, which is a Chinese famous news periodical with its 22--year history, in order to analyze public sphere construction of Chinese news periodicals. The methodology of the paper is case study, discourse analysis and content analysis. The creative point is the paper studied the functions of the periodical through the public sphere construction point of view. The main body can be divided into six parts. The first part talked about the background, theory scheme and methodology of the whole research. The second part studied the editorial goals. The third part analyzed the cover title and picture in the aspect of news affairs focusing. The fourth part studied the cover stories in the aspect of news paraphrase. And the fifth part is about editorials in the aspect of opinion expression. The last part is the conclusion of the whole research and also presented the further possible studies related to the paper. The paper selected 54 samplings of Nanfengchuang since 1998 to 2006. |
