The superintendence of students' apartment-living has always been a weak link in colleges' and universities' work. There exists a great hidden danger in students' non-observance to the college's regulations, especially, in the case of their renting or living outside the campus. In particular, there is something quite complex in the current public security environment. Individual apart, the authority concerned which does not exert itself and fails to acknowledge the problem should take most of the responsibility.Aiming at solving the problems in students' apartment-living superintendence in colleges and universities, the author here presents a highly workable solution to the situation, that is, the entrance guard to the apartment management system, which is based on the fingerprint identification of the students to record their attendance and adopts the combination of the fingerprint identification and entrance guard system, taking up fingerprint as the recognizable identity of the student. This system is re-designed according to the programming link provided in the available fingerprint products. Thus, that it is difficult to register students who come back late or the authority fails to check on the students' lodging in the apartment or some students may assume the identity of another can all be solved to the uttermost. As a result, the management of the apartment building can be improved effectively, which helps to put an end to students' disobey the school's regulations to eliminate unstable factors with the advantages of low cost, easy maintenance and no need of memory or password keyed in, etc..The overall structure of the guard system mentioned adopts three-level client or server mode which is divided into client terminals, application server and database server. Application server mainly deals with the business logic processing in the system, while the database serve is responsible for the storage and elimination of the data processed and the client performs the real business role. The guard system mentioned adopts the design of orient object and is developed based on Delphi7.0, with SQL Server 2000 SP4 serving its back database and PowerDesigner V12.0 to design and create database. This system takes up possible measures to realize data security, which is greatly strengthened with the use of security patches on the loopholes attached to SQL Server 2000. Terminals which have no direct access to the database are managed at different levels with different accesses. The database operation is done by way of view to further guarantee security problem.
