With the development of the modern society, people go in for life with safety and comfort. Thus, the entrance guard system has been acting an important role in intelligent buildings. The traditional entrance guard system usually utilizes mechanical lock, ID card reader, and relevant devices. It is very inconvenient for people to hold the card near the reader when they are busy, and the card is easily lost, tampered, and is of high cost.An intelligent entrance guard system using dual-authentication technology is introduced in this article. Both Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and face recognition are adopted to ensure the security, making it meets the requirements of home guard and remote network control. When the user enters the detection range of the entrance guard system, the system will get the ID information of the user to judge whether the user is authorized, acquisition the user's face image by video camera and face authentication.The main research work is as follows:①An exhaustive survey is conducted on the current intelligent entrance guard systems, and their properties and disadvantages is also further discussed.②A low-power access controller and a RFID card are designed and realized. The communication between them employs wireless duplex communication with quick response and high precision. Microchip 16 and 18 series PIC chips are selected as the micro control unit (MCU) of them.③A video-based face recognition module is realized to cooperate with the access controller. This module is programmed using c++ language, and is compiled using in Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 integrated development environments (IDE).④A synthetic decision-making system is realized. It can not only obtain the synthetic decision from the RFID module and face recognition module, but also perform the setting and management task of all modules integrated in this system. This module is programmed using Microsoft foundation class (MFC), and is compiled using in Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 IDE.⑤An extended network module is also designed, in order that the user can control this system via cellular phone or Internet from far end.
